Mars

Mars stands for youthful enthusiasm, energy and vigour. Also associated with aggression, this need not necessarily be negative. Eating an apple, for example, could be considered aggressive, but chewing our food is necessary for proper digestion to occur. Passion is another example.

He was the Roman god of war, and as Ares well known for his torrid affair with Aphrodite. Quick to anger, he is often associated with youth and impetuosity.

In this day and age, many things Martian and indeed the masculine in general, has come to be viewed with suspicion. There is also a positive aspect, guardian of the temple, slayer of giants.

Iron is the metal associated with Mars. It therefore symbolises strength. Of all the elements in the Periodic Table, iron is the most stable. It also forms the core at the centre of our earth.

Mars rules the blood, which has its red colour due to haemaglobin, an iron compound which carries oxygen to the cells of our bodies. It rules the gall bladder.
